To import a file in Band-in-a-Box format, simply choose File > Open and open it in the “Open File Panel”. Alternatively you can drop its file icon onto the MyJazzBand icon. Band-in-a-Box files should have filename extensions .sg? or .mg? where '?' is a letter or a digit.

If no changes have been made when a song document window for an imported Band-in-a-Box format file is closed, MyJazzBand simply closes the window and leave that file unchanged.

MyJazzBand saves files in its own native format. If changes have been made in a song document window for an imported Band-in-a-Box format file when that file is saved or when the song document window is closed, MyJazzBand will ask whether you want to save it in its native format, and provide a default name with the MyJazzBand filename extension .mjb.
