Where Did Bridge 11 Go?!

Saturday June 18, 2005

We had a bit more rain last night. The bridge over Fish Creek near my home was washed further down the creek this afternoon!! Compare this to the picture I took last week!

The mayor has declared a state of emergency. A few thousand people have to be evacuated from their homes. The rain has now stopped. But more water is expected to flow through in the next couple of days!

Holy Cow!

Yellow Flowers

Thursday June 16, 2005

Sometimes the simplest plants can be things of great beauty. Here’re two poppies that self-seeded in my garden.

Here’s my globe flower, which was planted only last spring.

Fish Creek Water Level

Tuesday June 14, 2005

It rained a lot here in the first part of June, certainly much more than the last three years I’ve been here. I used to tell people it doesn’t really rain that much in Calgary. When it does, wait five minutes, it will stop. Guess I can’t say that any more. Here’s a picture I took last Wednesday of Fish Creek near my home.

For comparison, here’s one I took last summer.

Of course the rain does wonders for plants. Here’s another look at my peony Postilion.
