Chinese Restaurants in Calgary
Monday July 19, 2004

The Calgary Chinatown is really just the two city blocks between 2nd Ave. S.E. and 4th Ave. S.E., and between Centre St. S. and 1st St. S.E. The restaurant where I most often eat is Calgary Court on 2nd Ave. S.E. It’s a “Hong Kong style cafe” where one can get congee, chow mein, chow fun, wonton noodles, ice tea and ice coffee all at the same time!

For dim sum there are many choices. Most tour books will recommend Silver Dragon on 3rd Ave. S.E.

I actually prefer Harbour City at the corner of Centre St. S. and 3rd Ave. S.E.

There are also Treasures of China on 3rd Ave. S.E. and Regency Place in the Dragon City Mall at the corner of Centre St. S. and 4th Ave. S.E. All of these are quite good. The former only serves dim sum on weekends though.

To buy take-out barbecue pork and roast ducks, I go to Gee Gong on Centre St. S. between 2nd and 3rd Ave. S.E.
