Heres another picture of the orcas. You should be able to see two quite clearly near the shore. If you look closely, theres another just below the surface in the foreground, a little to the left.
Heres a beautiful part of the Butchart Garden called the sunken garden.
Herere some painted daisies (I think) and forget-me-nots I found there.
At its far end lies the Ross fountain.
Across from the Butchart Garden is the Butterfly Garden. Its well worth a visit and takes about an hour to walk around. Heres an atlas moth with a 10" wing span! The pattern on the tips of the wings looks like snake heads. These creatures live for five years in their cocoons and then emerge and live only three to five days to breed. Dont even have mouths and digestive systems. Hmm...
On my trip I went on a whale watching boat in Tofino on Vancouver Island. Heres one of the orcas that swam by. We also saw a couple of grey whales but I was too slow to take any pictures.
Butchart Garden was simply beautiful. Tulips are the star of the show this time of year. It looked like roses would start to bloom in their rose garden in a few weeks. But right now, therere tulips everywhere you look.
Oh, just me on Long Beach near Tofino. I think Id gained a few pounds from eating out so much.
